Policy Into Practice

The focus of this activity is to identify best and good practice and existing areas of weakness in policy relating to delivering positive outcomes from minerals sites restoration across NW Europe. From which up to date, relevant guidance material and clear recommendations for future action across NWE will be produced.

We have;

Researched and analysed the current policy context for minerals sites restoration problems & issues, emerging trends across NWE including a review of EU, national & regional policy & legislation

Established a Policy Expert Group of private & public sector professionals & policy-makers concerned with mineral site restoration in NWE.

Held seminars focusing on particular mineral planning themes and presented findings of these and our evaluation during the project

Reports and outputs

The policy into practice work by RESTORE has identified current good practice in minerals related policy in NW Europe, at country and regional levels with case examples, and has developed recommendations for improving application of policy in practice, so that those operating and managing mineral sites can fulfill their potential to contribute to EU Biodiversity 2020 targets, and at the same time optimise the range of benefits to society. These reports can be accessed from the links opposite.
